Welcome to this special section of Stowe by Chartley Parish Council Website, relating to issues regarding Solar Farms.
We have created several pages to enable the PC to store and also display information for those who are interested in this subject.
The parish council have been dealing with two Solar Farm applications in the very small hamlet of Drointon, one application started in 2023 and received planning permission after an appeal in January 2025, and the second application is still pending.
If both planning applications are approved, 80% of the very small hamlet of Drointon will be covered in Solar Panels for the next 40 years plus.
From the outset the parish council decided to unanimously object to both planning applications for the solar farms within the parish and have launched investigations on specific areas of concern, to provide as much information as possible to object to Stafford Borough Council.
Our aim is also, to provide information for parishioners, others in Staffordshire and around the country, who are actively objecting to similar projects, by sharing ideas, information and good practise, hence creating this extension to our website to deal with the many issues regarding Solar Farms and BESS Battery storage.
